🚂 Southern Railway Recruitment 2026 (Scouts & Guides Quota)

The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), Chennai, has released an employment notice (RRC-01/S&G/2026-27) for recruitment under the Scouts and Guides Quota. This is a specialized recruitment drive for active members of the scouting movement.

📋 Vacancy Details

• Total Vacancies: 17
• Level 2 Posts: 3 Vacancies (Southern Railway & Integral Coach Factory)
• Level 1 Posts: 14 Vacancies (Distributed across Chennai, Tiruchchirappalli, Madurai, Palakkad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Salem divisions)

🎓 Educational Eligibility

For Level 2:

• Class 12th (minimum 50% marks) OR
• Matriculation + Course Completed Act Apprenticeship OR
• Matriculation + ITI (NCVT approved).

For Level 1:

• Class 10th pass OR ITI / NAC / Combined 10th + ITI/NAC.

🏕️ Mandatory Scouts & Guides Requirements

Candidates must satisfy the following to be eligible:

• Must be a President’s Scout, Guide, Rover, Ranger, or Himalayan Wood Badge holder.
• Active membership in a Scouts organization for the last 5 years.
• Possession of a Certificate of Activeness.
• Participation in at least two National Level events and two State Level events.

• Application Closing Date: 18 October 2026 (11:59 PM)
• Age Limit Reference Date: 01 January 2027

✍️ Selection Process

The recruitment is based on a total of 100 marks:

1. Written/Hybrid Examination (60 Marks): 40 Objective questions (1 mark each) and 1 Essay (20 marks). Note: 1/3 negative marking for objective questions.
2. Certificate Assessment (40 Marks): Marks awarded for participation in National, State, and District rallies/courses.

💰 Application Fee

• General/OBC: ₹500 (₹400 refundable upon appearing in exam)
• SC/ST/Female/PwBD/EWS: ₹250 (Fully refundable upon appearing in exam)
