The High Court of Delhi is recruiting for the post of Personal Assistant (PA) and Senior Personal Assistant (SPA). To succeed, candidates must clear four distinct stages of examination.
Selection Process
The selection process is sequential; candidates must clear each stage individually:
- Stage I: English Typing Test (Qualifying only)
- Stage II: English Shorthand Test (Counts toward final merit)
- Stage III: Main Descriptive Examination (Written)
- Stage IV: Interview (Final Stage)
Detailed Exam Pattern
1. English Typing Test (Stage I)
- Duration: 10 Minutes
- Requirement: Min. 40 words per minute (wpm)
- Permissible Errors: 3% of total words
2. English Shorthand Test (Stage II)
- Speed: 100 wpm
- Format: 500 words dictated in 5 minutes
- Transcription Time: 45 minutes
- Marks: 110 Marks
- Disqualification: More than 25 mistakes leads to failure
3. Main Descriptive Exam (Stage III)
- Total Marks: 100 | Duration: 120 Minutes
- Essay (250 words): 40 Marks
- Letter Writing: 15 Marks
- Grammar & Comprehension: 25 Marks
- Translation (Hindi to English): 10 Marks
- Translation (English to Hindi): 10 Marks
- Qualifying Marks: 45% for Reserved/PwBD candidates
4. Interview (Stage IV)
- Total Marks: 15 Marks
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: None
Preparation Strategy
- Focus on Speed: Daily practice for 100 wpm shorthand and 40 wpm typing is critical as these are the first hurdles.
- Master Descriptive English: The Essay carries the highest weightage (40 marks); practice structured 250-word essays on administrative topics.
- Bilingual Proficiency: Regular practice of Hindi-English translation to secure the 20 marks available in Stage III.
