KEA Principal Recruitment 2026 Overview
The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is recruiting for the post of Principal in Government Pre-University Colleges on behalf of the Department of School Education.
Important Note: This recruitment is NOT open to the general public. It is a departmental recruitment specifically for serving lecturers.
Vacancy Break-up
Total Vacancies: 247
- Residual Parent Cadre (RPC): 216 Posts
- Kalyana-Karnataka (KK) Local Cadre: 31 Posts
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Current Status: Must be a serving Lecturer in Government Pre-University Colleges (School Education Dept).
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of service in the Lecturer cadre.
- Probation: Must have satisfactorily completed the probation period.
Selection Process
Selection is based on a competitive examination consisting of three papers:
- Paper 1: Kannada Language Test (Qualifying only - 50 marks minimum required).
- Paper 2: General Studies (150 Marks).
- Paper 3: KCS Rules, Education Act 1983, and Educational Psychology (150 Marks).
Marking Scheme: 0.25 negative marking for each wrong answer in Papers 2 and 3.

- GM / 2A / 2B / 3A / 3B: Rs. 1,500
- SC / ST / Cat-1 / ESM / TG: Rs. 1,000
- PwD: Rs. 500
