Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is conducting the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 to fill positions across various engineering disciplines and scientific roles.

Selection Process
The selection is conducted in four primary stages:
- Paper-I (CBE): Qualifying shortlisting stage.
- Paper-II (CBE): Final merit-deciding stage.

Paper-I (Qualifying)
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 Questions | 50 Marks
- General Awareness: 50 Questions | 50 Marks
- General Engineering (Stream Specific): 100 Questions | 100 Marks
- Total: 200 Marks | Duration: 2 Hours
- Negative Marking: 0.25 per wrong answer
Paper-II (Merit Stage)
- General Engineering (Opted Stream): 100 Questions | 300 Marks

Stream-wise Syllabus
- Civil & Structural: Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Concrete/Steel Structures, Surveying, Soil Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Irrigation, and Transportation.
- Electrical: Network Theorems, Electrical Machines, Generation/Transmission, Power Electronics, and Measurement.
- Mechanical: Strength of Materials, Theory of Machines, Thermal Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, and Manufacturing Processes.
- CS & IT: Discrete Math, Data Structures, Algorithms, OS, Databases, and Computer Networks.
- Electronics & Telecom: Diodes, Transistors, Digital Electronics, Antennas, and Wireless Communication.
- Physics: Mechanics, Optics, Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, and Semiconductor Devices.
- Telecommunication: Signals & Systems, Analog/Digital Communication, and Electromagnetics.
Important Notes for Candidates
- On-Screen Tools: A scientific calculator, IS 456:2000 Code, and Steam Tables will be provided on-screen. Physical copies are prohibited.
- Difficulty Level: Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical papers are set at the Diploma level, while CS/IT, Electronics, Physics, and Telecom are set at the Graduation level.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR: 30% | OBC/EWS: 25% | Others: 20%.
